Grants & AwardsThe Kinkaid Foundation has no paid board members. Virtually all of our grant recipients are selected through the personal knowledge of our decision makers – as a result, grant requests are not solicited. We have no application forms and no published guidelines. Grants are made throughout the year, based on individual need. Foundation GrantsKinkaid Foundation grants are made in two areas: v Patient Aftercare Support v Caregiver Support (Details about these support areas may be found on our Mission Statement page.) Patient Aftercare SupportGrants made in this category are made to individuals who are patients in aftercare situations and who are in need of financial and/or caregiver support. Such grants are intended to provide funds for aftercare-related expenses that are not otherwise covered by regularly available benefit programs. Grant amounts are determined on a case-by-case basis, with the actual funds being placed in a drawing account administered by the Foundation on behalf of the beneficiary. The Foundation assigns a Patient Advocate to oversee the disbursement of funds from the account, and to provide support to the patient and their caregiver(s). Caregiver SupportGrants made in this category are made to individuals and organizations who provide aftercare support for patients. Such grants are intended to provide funds for expenses incurred by the caregiver(s) that are not otherwise covered by regularly available benefit programs. As with Patient Aftercare Grants, grant amounts are determined on a case-by-case basis, with the actual funds being placed in a drawing account administered by the Foundation on behalf of the beneficiary. A Caregiver Advocate is assigned to oversee the disbursement of funds from the account and to provide support and guidance. Combination GrantsIn some cases, both the patient and their caregiver(s) may be covered by the same grant. Foundation AwardsThe Foundation may, from time to time, present cash awards to other 501(c)(3) organizations which are active in the area of patient aftercare and caregiver support. Such awards may be made to support direct aftercare/caregiver activities, or to assist in providing training for caregivers and patient advocates. Funding SourcesKinkaid Foundation grants and awards are paid for by donations from private individuals and institutional donors. Donations may be made to the Foundation’s general Fund, or may be earmarked for specific grant/award categories, as described above. |
