Updated Information About the Michelle McFee Benefit Concert & Auction:

Words & Music - The Concert

Well, the show's over and the last notes have died out. We really rocked the Glaser that night, and did a whole lot of good.

First and foremost, we raised a bucketful of money for Michelle. Many, many thanks to everybody who bought tickets and posters and who made cash donations.

Second, we put another brick into the house that's Bay Area Rock and Roll. From the musicians who played to the crew that schlepped to the fans who boogied, we all contributed to a memorable night. People will be talking about this show for years to come.

Here at the Kinkaid Foundation, we're still in recovery mode. It's been non-stop work on this show for the past two months, and we're still tying up the loose ends. Purchased posters should be going out in the mail in the next day or so. We still have an auction to finish off (more on that below). And we're beginning to wrap our heads around the idea that some of the players want to make this an annual party. Not just as a benefit concert, but as a celebration of this particular community. We'll see how that plays out in coming months, but we do know that we'll be putting on more shows. Partly for the benefit aspect, but also to provide opportunities for bands to play and fans to come and party.

If you'd like to be updated on upcoming shows or other Kinkaid Foundation activities, please sign up for our mailing list. It's a low-volume list; we promise not to fill up your mailbox with daily updates about the state of the universe.

So again, from the Kinkaid Foundation on behalf of Michelle McFee, huge thanks to everyone who came to the show.

Pictures & Things - The Auction

Now that the dust has, in fact, settled, we're concentrating on the auction. As we noted before the concert, Mark Keys and Rob Bleetstein had gone deep into the vaults for the David Nelson Band and the New Riders of the Purple Sage, respectively, and come up with two packages that were to be auctioned off live at the concert.

Well, I suck as an auctioneer, and we never did really get that part of the act together. So we still have the two packages available, and are adding them to the main auction page.

Mark has put together the Ultimate Nelson Band Hawaiian Accessory & Memorabilia pack, including swag from all three tours. Click here to see the details of this fantastic collection.

Rob went deep into the vaults to put together a Killer Kit of Live Shows and Resort Wear, including live CDs and some bitchin' NRPS/Panama Red apparel! Click on through to the other side to check out this collection.

We can't thank these guys enough for these gifts, and we want to give you all a good chance to bid on them. So, for those two packages, we'll hold the bidding open for an extra two weeks, to midnight January 14-15, 2009.

During the show, our good friend Karen Simmons dropped by the ticket table with a contribution to the auction. Now, Karen is a remarkable artist, and the two pieces of fused glass tableware she gave us are flat-out jaw-droppingly beautiful. These heirloom-quality pieces use a combination of glass, stones, mineral salts and iridescent metallic dyes to infuse the pieces with great depth and color. Take a look at these and see if they wouldn't make a fantastic addition to your personal collection!

Also during the show, we were finally able to hook up with our stage manager, Steve Block, to get our hands on two wonderful pieces from his extensive poster collection. Steve has donated one NRPS/Moonalice poster, celebrating their 11/28/08 show at the Great American Music Hall. This poster has been signed by both bands, and includes the autograph of Chief Moonalice himself! The second poster is from an especially memorable show: the Festival for Rock the Earth, 9/17/06 at the Jerry Garcia Amphitheatre. Again, signed by most (if not all) of the musicians, this poster is one from a limited printing of 250 pieces, and was printed on Living Tree Paper (100% hemp/flax and recycled content). Both posters are collectors items; take a look!

Oh, yeah; almost forgot:

When we opened up the truck, we found that Mark and Bobby and the whole RatDog gang had snuck in a second collection of show and memorabilia. We've got a boatload of CDs from the Fall 2008 Tour, as well as a pile of shows from the 2006 Tour, hand-picked by Mark! Plus a nice collection of backstage passes and an incredibly rare "Local Crew" t-shirt. Click on through to see the detail page for this bonus package!

Finally, the Kinkaid Foundation is adding in a complete package from the December 19th concert: One signed poster, one handbill, two tickets, one All-Access laminate and a satin Backstage pass. It may be collectible at some point, but we're really thinking it's more of a "we were there" remembrance set. Details and pictures here.

The auction close date has been extended for these items only. These items will close at midnight, January 14-15, 2009, in order to provide enough time for everybody interested in these items a chance to bid. The rest of the auction items will close at midnight, New Year's Eve/New Years' Day, 2008/2009.

Remember, the auction features some incredible items contributed by an even more incredible collection of people (like Jack Hirschman, Neil Gaiman, Michael Chabon and others). Please click here to see the list of items and, if you’re so inclined, to place a bid!

Words & Music - The Event Poster

We're delighted to announce that we still do have some signed posters available. We also have some unsigned posters and handbills available, as well. For more information, click here to go to the poster page.
